Blommie and the Planet

Blommie and the Planet is a captivating book project created during an Honours Illustration course. The illustrations were inspired by my personal experience with eczema and were brought to life using a combination of colour pencils, watercolour, and collage techniques. I wanted to create a unique and uplifting book about eczema for children, that wasn't too on the nose. It follows a little girl called Blommie, the name comes from a nickname my mom gave me "Blommiepot", as she does her nighttime routine with her mom, putting on the moisturizer and reading a book. and when she falls asleep she dreams about meeting a big planet engulfed with a cloud of stars. The stars represent allergens, and the planet's surface is irritated and hurts, and he doesn't know how to make it stop. Blommie and her elephant friend Nixie find a way to help this planet, and in the end, they are successful. I wanted to show the importance of support when living with eczema, as it has helped me a lot as a child.
